Jeff Tweedy has shared a new cover of Wild Connection, a song by New Orleans duo Twisted Teens. In a September 11 Substack post, the Wilco frontman released his version of the track, which originally appeared on the band’s February album Blame the Clown.
Writing alongside the cover, Tweedy said he was drawn to bandleader Caspian Hollywell’s voice and found it difficult not to imitate his singing style. He also explained that recording covers gives him a chance to understand songs he enjoys from a performer’s point of view. In this case, Tweedy said the finished version still sounded like himself, although it reminded him of a younger version of his own voice.
Tweedy has used his Substack to share other covers this year, including a version of Cameron Winter’s Love Takes Miles.
Twisted Teens, meanwhile, are preparing to release The Holy Cross Tigers on November 6. The album will be their third full-length release of 2026 and their first for Sub Pop.
